Description
In the historic centre of a typical village of southern Puglia, at about 4 km from the deep blue see in Castro Marina, on the eastern side of the Salento peninsula, there is this beautiful villa with pool, oozing a distinct Mediterranean atmosphere with a bit of an international flavor. The property has been carefully restored so to enhance the architectural characteristics of the building tradition of the area. The interior décor is eclectic, merging together modern, ethnic and that pop Italian flavor that you especially find in southern Italy -that something “nostalgic” that recalls to your mind some old-time crafts, and the smell of home-made tomato sauce diffused in the air through the streets and alleys of some little village, in a sunny summer afternoon.
As you get in the property, you find yourself in a wide courtyard with Mediterranean and succulent plants, where the flooring, almost at the centre of this space, is characterized by emerging natural stone which has been polished and left uneven as it naturally is, definitely adding character to the setting. Perhaps you will only have to pay a bit more attention to this peculiarity, but you will realize that this space is the heart of the house, conceived to be fully enjoyed. It features several relax and conversation corners equipped with stylish garden furniture, and, over an adjoined area paved with gravel, a big 12-14 seat outdoor dining table. Overlooking this beautiful space, there are the two bodies of the house, the main one on two levels, and the annex on the other side. Both are lined up by even flooring, and the annex has a pergola furnished with garden furniture.
Through an archway from the main courtyard, you will access another bigger courtyard hosting the pool area, equipped with sunbeds, deck chairs, several relax corners, and provided with a toilet. From here and through another archway, you walk across a little fruit orchard with a vegetable garden, extending all the length of the rear of the main body, and where you will gain access to 1 double bedroom with en-suite shower room and a storage room. You get inside the main building through the French doors opening onto the big courtyard, directly in the kitchen-dining area, a large space with 2 dining tables for 8 and 10 seats and an open-plan kitchen. Going straight on -as the rooms are aligned and adjoined to each other-, you gain access to the living room where, descending a couple of steps to go ahead, you pass through a reading room with a single sofa-bed and a large, private shower-room; going on across a passageway, on the right you access a double bedroom with en-suite shower room, while on the left a staircase leads up to the upper floor where there is another spacious double bedroom with en-suite shower room. In the annex, which you access from beneath the pergola overlooking the main courtyard, there are other two double bedrooms with shower-room.
FYI: all bedrooms do not have a separating door between the shower-room and the rest of the bedroom, but only some thick sand-color curtains. Exception made for the two bedrooms on the rear of the main body, which do have separating doors with their shower-rooms. In the upper level bedroom’s shower-room there is a separation door between the toilet space and that of the sink and the shower. All rooms in the house have access/exit from/to the outside area through French doors, in addition to some other doorways from the inside; only the upper level suite bedroom is reachable only from inside.
