Description
La Volta Bianca is a bright independent apartment with two private terraces, in the historic centre of Lecce.
You can reach it in a 5-minute walk after parking the car outside the “Porta Rudiae”, one of the ancient entryways to the old town; as soon as you cross it, you will immediately sense the warm yet elegant atmosphere that makes Lecce such a lovely town to visit. Past the “Accademia delle Belle Arti” (the Academy of Fine Arts) to the right, you will already encounter, for example, a nice baroque church which is worth a visit, the Church of Saint John the Baptist. And in one of the alleys right at its back there is La Volta Bianca.
This property is a classic example of a modern apartment that has kept the charm of the ancient residence it has been built in: the narrow staircases to the upper floors, the high-vaulted ceilings, the original floorings, the fireplace, the “Leccese stone” (i.e. the local building stone), the rooftop terraces overlooking the other “palazzi” all around. With its smart décor including some more modern pieces, La Volta Bianca is quintessential of what a Southern Italy old town house feels like.
The apartment comprises two levels. On the first floor there is the living room with a fireplace, from where one can get outside onto the first one of the two equipped terraces, provided with a garden umbrella, an 6-seat dining table, and other garden furniture; the dining room featuring a nice modern table with a wooden top; the spacious fully-equipped modern kitchen; a triple bedroom, and a shower-room. From the dining room one can take the stairs leading to the second floor where there is the master bedroom with an en-suite shower-room. Going back down in the living room, one finds another staircase making way to the second private terrace, offering a lovely view of the old town, furnished with a shaded area with an 6-seat dining table, garden chairs and deckchairs, and an outdoor shower. There is also a laundry area with washing machine and washbasin.
Being located in the historic centre of the main town of the Salento, La Volta Bianca is the ideal accommodation for those who wish to experience a holiday full of Arts & Culture, but also of the vibrant city life, both in the day and by night. A few steps from the house there are in fact several of the most beautiful examples of ecclesiastic baroque architecture as well as aristocratic palaces of the Salento, the main museums and the most renowned venues for exhibitions, in addition to countless shops, bistros, restaurants and nice outdoor bars.
